Circles are deeply meaningful to me… from their beauty in nature, to the deep symbolic representations of unity, balance and harmony, to the human experience and connection to one another, belonging, to how our brain perceives them and their inherent calming nature… to mention but a few.

Further, for me, circles also have such a graceful way of framing a scene, drawing your attention, like you are looking into another dimension, they become portals into the known and unknown. Circles are soulful.

This lamp is very much inspired by Japanese elegance and simplicity. I wanted a lamp that incorporated a large circle and elegant joinery, appearing simple and clean, hiding the complexity behind making it. The base shape is inspired by a body of water, like a lake. The structure rising up from this a delicate tree, a main trunk with a branch, a full moon nestled in the v-shape where the trunk and branch meet. It may surprise you but the structure balances perfectly as you see it, a coincidence that still surprises me to this day… so fitting for the name.

Speaking of the names, ‘Finding Balance' is inspired by the Daoist ‘middle way’, a path to living in peace and harmony, oneness. A balance of energies, yin-yang, being content.

*Artwork:
This can be something you provide (inked line art, tattoo style) that you have done yourself, or something you have purchased and have permission to use. You can also reach out to one of the artists I work with and have a commissioned piece done. You will be provided with a PDF template and guide related to sizing and use of colour.

The existing core structure needs to remain unchanged. Extensive development and time has gone into the structural design, this cannot be altered. That being said, as you will see, there is so much that can be achieved to arrive at a bespoke piece that you will love..

Get in touch with me via the chat or contact page. From there we will setup a phone call, Zoom or FaceTime session to explore your vision.

Once we have discussed everything and you are happy with the estimate, you can place an order using the “Custom” option on the product page.

Phase 1: Upon receiving your order and depending upon the complexity of the project, I will move forward with a rough mockup of your custom piece. Most often though, a mockup is not necessary.

Phase 2: You will have the opportunity to review the customizations we discussed, along with any mockup images, refine further if necessary and then sign-off.

Phase 3: You will receive an invoice for the balance (customizations only). I will then begin on your lantern or lamp shortly afterwards. You will receive updates along the way until your one-of-a-kind lantern, lamp or accent piece is ready to be shipped, or delivered if local.
